Why?
The Latin American Solidarity Network (LASNET) invites you to a discussion and information night about a new mega-project that the capitalist power is trying to impose in Latin America, the so called IIRSA (Initiative for the Integration of Regional Infrastructure in South America).
12 South American countries are involved in this project, this so called capitalist integration project will destroy the Amazonia, devastation of the lands and displacement of Indigenous people, privatises water and natural resources, increase the exploitation and poverty for the excluded people and the contamination of our planet. No consultation or people’s participation throughout the continent have been organised during the creation, development and review of this project.
A LASNET representative attended the Capitalist's Crisis, Re-Colonisation and Grassroots Popular Alternatives International Gathering in Bolivia. At this Gathering various grassroots popular and indigenous movements get together, to oppose this Capitalist integration project, and others that the Capitalist dominant sectors are attempting to implement to save their profits, such us Puebla Panama, Plan Colombia, etc.
LASNET and other international solidarity organisations took the task to build links and solidarity in Australia and the Asia Pacific region with social, political and indigenous organisations fighting capitalist to support the popular and indigenous grassroots organisations in resistance and struggle against capitalism. LASNET was the only representative from Australia and the Asia Pacific region during this international meeting.
During the workshop we will explore the huge challenge that LASNET assumed in the development of create awareness, understanding and support for social, political and indigenous movements fighting against capitalism and how we can globalise our hopes and struggles.
Why the 12 countries in South America have been hiding this project since 2000?
What are the popular grassroots, indigenous and revolutionary organisations proposing for to oppose this capitalist effort that has been created to save CAPITALISM and to continue the planet self-destruction?
We will attempt to answer these questions during the workshop
